Committed to providing an effective and professional
service to the Precast Concrete Industry

Click here for a summary of the key properties when selecting a mould release agent for precast concrete production. Two types of VERA’S (a waterbased emulsion and a neat vegetable based oil) and two types of mineral oil release agents (high and low quality) are compared.

Traditionally, mould release agents have been made from mineral oils which although have performed satisfactorily for many years have also contained certain products and chemicals that can be harmful to the user and to the environment.

The Redrock range of Ecofine and Bio-release mould oils are bio-degradable, minimising the risk to our environment. The products are modern micro-emulsions made from vegetable oil based esters and are derived from renewable sources. The products have been developed to be used within the framework of the SUMOVERA* project, supported by the European Commission, which is intended to bring cleaner and safer working practices to mould oil users at precast factories and construction sites. Additionally Redrock’s Ecofine and Bio-release MRA’s meet the criteria set out in the SYNAD (French Association for admixtures and mould release agents) guidelines for cleaner and safer products for use in concrete production.

The Redrock range of MRAs has maintained or improved the key performance properties required in precast production, with significant occupational benefits. Ecofine and Bio-release do not contain Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). The raw materials used in the manufacture of the Redrock MRAs are similar to those used in soaps and cosmetics. This has the additional benefit of ensuring the user suffers no harmful effects regarding skin irritation and inhalation nor is exposed to flammability risk.
